We are excited to launch the Artrepreneur Youth Program in Vaughan!

The Artrepreneur Youth Program is a one-week intensive for youth interested in entrepreneurship and the arts. In this one-week program, youth will learn how to ideate creative solutions for problems through design thinking, and turn their ideas into a business through business plan training. After the five-day in-class sessions, the fellows will present their newly created business to friends and family at the Expo. The program serves York Region based artists working in all artistic disciplines such as, though not limited to, visual arts, dance, theatre, film, music, jewellery, fashion, augmented reality and game design. Our curriculum is blended with workshops, in-class working sessions and peer-to-peer learning. By the end of the program, fellows will have a business plan, allowing them to launch their business through various grants programs such as Summer Company.

The Expo:
The Expo is an opportunity for program fellows to present their business to other artists, industry leaders, friends and family in a public setting. The Expo will involve a graduation ceremony and a showcase where each fellow will have their own booth. Upon successful completion, fellows will be awarded a certificate endorsed by all program partners at the graduation. The showcase is a great opportunity for the fellows to network and practise their pitching skills.

Speakers:
We bring in speakers from a variety of different backgrounds to give fellows a wholesome experience and various industry contacts. Some of the speakers include:

Lucas Chang – Y2 Labs
Ganesh Thavarajah – York Region Arts Council
Lonnie Freedman – Vaughan Public Libraries
Julie Flesch & Raphael Costa, Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre

Eligibility:

  • Applicant is a youth (14 – 18 years old) interested in entrepreneurship and the arts
  • Demonstrates a business need/idea in the arts industry
